The literature available and the number of programs concerning home businesses attest to this fact, simply by the sheer volume of available materials on the Internet.

A home business of one’s own is quite attractive to everyone, as many individuals have lost any faith whatsoever in the “corporate identity” of today due to job lay-offs and closings. A product or service is provided, as well as instructions and support, and there may even be marketing materials and a Website given. Methods of payment are usually provided also, and it is quite reasonable that everyone can start a work at home business in quite a short period of time by choosing to join an Affiliate Program or Network Marketing Program. Many have become quite successful with either of these business models, and there are thousands of new members each and every day.

There are differences, though, in these business models, and care should be taken when joining to ensure that the program most closely fits what the person joining is searching for in a work at home business. Here then, are the major differences, to guide anyone in their choice of program model:

In Affiliate Programs there may be one or two income levels, with a standard earning percentage. An Affiliate Program can be somewhat easier to market, as the monetary investment is usually smaller, but there is little, if any chance of residual income (long-term extra cash flow based on multiple earning levels). Affiliate Programs, though, take less maintenance than Network Marketing Programs, and the results can usually be seen sooner, due to their more simplistic nature. Unlike Network Marketing Programs, many Affiliate Programs can be marketed almost entirely online, with very little customer contact.

In Network Marketing Programs, there are many, many levels of income (hence the multi-level idea), leading to more long-term residual income. However, Network Marketing Programs do entail a much larger extent of customer contact, as they require the building of “downlines” to achieve the residual income, and anyone joining must provide support to their downlines almost continually in order to maintain a certain income level. A Network Marketing Company can usually be somewhat harder to start and maintain, but can grow more easily to the level in which an individual member so chooses.

The choice of one business model or another as a work at home business is rather personal and should be well suited to an individual’s personal needs and personality. All in all, if you are a real “people person” who desires a great income, and has a lot of determination, then a Network Marketing Program will be a good choice. On the other hand, if you are somewhat shy, would rather have a program that turns around more quickly and easily, and if you prefer to “work alone”, than an Affiliate Program is probably the better choice.

Just remember, when choosing any work at home business, consider yourself and your needs well, and you will indeed, make the perfect choice.

be an exception I guess! So let us start from the begining and explore as to Who ,Why, When and Where you could start this Business Opportunity using the Internet.

Anyone with a desire or urge to start a Home Based Business can venture into this field. All you need is a computer and who hasen’t one or access to one these days? An elementary knowledge of the working of a computer and the Internet is sufficient to get started. Many things can be picked up as you progress. This is what most of the people do.

The beauty of this Internet Home Business is that Age and Sex , Race and Religion are no barriers. It is sans borders. Entrepreneurs living in any part of the world can participate in thousands of Affiliate programs that are either Regional or Global in nature.

The spouse can be of great assistance by reading and researching resources and articles and doing a lot of other preliminary work, which can substantially reduce the number of hours you have to spend on the computer. In the course of my home business coaching activities, I have
often found that people head into the startup of their online
home based businesses with a wildly unrealistic mindset.

Many have been told that they can sign up for a few programs,
build a website around them, add a bunch of banners and links
onto their site, then sit back and watch the money roll in and
never have to work again.

There is a misconception that you can come online and set up an
Internet based business and be making big money within a few
days. This is absolute hogwash and it has not been my experience
nor the experience of anyone I have come in contact with through
my online business activities.

The harsh reality is that there are more people who fail at their
home businesses than there are people who actually succeed.

Newcomers to the world of online home based business are not
usually aware that they may actually have to work harder at their
home businesses than they did at their traditional jobs. They are
typically not aware of the many hours of marketing time that they
will need to put in to be successful.

Many people that are new to online marketing also make the
mistake of thinking that a single marketing strategy will
suffice. Naturally, some avenues will produce better results
than others, but I have found the best course of action is to
adopt a broad based approach to your online marketing by
spreading your time and resources over several different methods.

If you are new to Internet marketing, you might be well advised
to take a course to find out what is required of you to be
successful in an online business. It does not matter what type of
business you are starting, if it is online, it must be marketed
online, and possibly offline as well.

It always amazes me how frequently people that start an online
home based business actually believe that they can get rich by
doing absolutely nothing, or at least with very little effort.
These are otherwise intelligent people. Why would they believe
this? My conclusion is that they believe because they want to
believe. They believe because they see claims to this effect
everyday and everywhere on the Internet. They are told that it is
possible. They not only want to believe it, for their own
reasons, but they need to believe it.

In my opinion, you need to give yourself at least a year to make
an online business get some traction and start to generate some
meaningful income. The proper mindset is to think long term,
not instant gratification.

I am always surprised at the number of people who drop out of
their online home based business after the first month or two.
I ask myself, what do they expect, miracles? You probably
wouldn’t bail out of offline business after a month so why would
you expect an online business to be any different?

Aside from the fallacy of instant riches without any effort,
the expectation of a free ride is a frequent misconception of
many that think they want to start an online home based business.
If you’re afraid, or unwilling, to invest a little money to start
your own business…you are not looking at a home based
business…you are looking at a work at home job. If you want to
make money online, you must also be willing to invest in
yourself. It’s as plain and simple as that.
